How to add a new printer on a Mac

  • To print on a Mac you need
    • The Equitrack software (see the pic below).
    • You can find it by connecting to the server.
    • Hit Go-->Connect to Server and enter: afp://hq-mac-svr
    • Connect to the software folder as guest
    • Then go to the Printer Drivers folder. Inside there, choose Printer, followed by the Ricoh folder..
    • In there, you will spot two folders: Choose 10.5.x. If by any chance you installed Snow Leopard or got your laptop after January 2010, you choose the folder 10.6.x You want the Equitrack Express Mac OS 10.1 software (in case of selecting 10.5.x).

  • Then install the software as an Administrator.
  • You need to install the EE Printing Admin
  • Then install the EE Printing Client
  • Then Restart your computer.
  • Next go to your Macintosh HD:
  • Then drag the printer icon there to your Doc.
  • How to add a printer:
    • First click on the equitrack printer icon icon
    • Then go to file-->new printer

    • Then type scishq-svr and click on Get Printers
    • Then Select the printer
    • The printers/copiers are named by this convention.
      • HQ - Means it's at HongQiao
      • The next letter is the building
      • A = The Middle School/Admin building
      • B = The theater/cafeteria
      • C = The Elementary School
      • D = The High School
      • Then the room where it's located.
    • (Optional but recommended) You can also add the printer drivers, either by yourself or with techteam help
    • First download the drivers
      • Drivers for our network printers
        • Tiger Drivers (Old MacBooks):
        • Leopard Drivers (New MacBooks):
      • Drivers for the copy machines
    • Then click on Select
    • Go to the Macintosh Harddrive
    • Then go to the library
    • Then go to printers
    • Go to PPDs
    • Contents
    • Resources
    • And pick The file which most closely matches the name of your printer (C2500 printers should use the C2500 file, AP600N should use the AP600N file).
    • Then Click ok, and you've added a printer.
